1.4.1930: Launched by Mrs G. Mackay Smart, daughter of a director of A. Hall & Co Ltd, Aberdeen (Yd.No.625) for Richard Watson Lewis, Pitfodels, Aberdeen as MELGUM.
30.4.1930: Registered at Aberdeen (A108). Richard W. Lewis designated managing owner.
5.1930: Completed.
2.11.1932: Richard W. Lewis & Sons Ltd placed in voluntary liquidation. Mr John McBain, chartered accountant, Aberdeen appointed liquidator for the winding up.
By 1933: Sold to North Eastern Fisheries Ltd, Aberdeen. Sir Andrew Lewis designated manager.
17.12.1933: Arrived Aberdeen and reported the loss of fireman, Christopher Ryan(26), Aberdeen. On 13th December while working the Faroe grounds 18 miles NE of Mykines, Ryan went missing. He was last seen starboard side aft going towards the after gallows with an oilcan in his hand. It is thought that whilst oiling the shelves he overbalanced and fell overboard. A search was made but there was no trace of the missing man.
