13.1.1898: Reported that at Bowmore, Islay, Third Hand, Arthur George Whittleton (18) of Hull, carried away and drowned when anchor fell away while he was passing the chain stopper through the ring of the anchor. Body recovered and brought back to Fleetwood (Whittleton was the son of the skipper of the VALETTA).

29.10.1898: On the Smalls ground fishing with the K&B fleet. Transferring boxes to fish carrier HAWK (H176), boat began to fill with water and sank leaving crew, J. Lewis, mate, Martin Stuart, bosun and Thomas, third hand in water. Stuart a Yarmouth man was seen to go under but did not rise again. Other two picked up but Stuart’s body not recovered.
31.10.1898: Arrived Fleetwood and reported death.

10.10.1905: At Hull landed ten survivors of the barque DEA London for Frederikstad with a cargo of coke which foundered in the North Sea in heavy weather.

12.1914: Requisitioned for war service as a minesweeper (1-6pdr) (Ad.No.679 later 814).
